Free, no login. Only publicly available information is accessible.

How it works

  1. Type a public Instagram username.
  2. We fetch their latest posts and find the median likes plus comments.
  3. Each post gets a multiplier. 2× or more is an outlier worth studying.

How we calculate it

Each post's interactions are its likes plus comments. We take the median across the latest posts, which one viral post can't drag up the way an average can, then divide each post by it. 2× or more is marked as an outlier and 0.5× or less as underperforming. Pinned posts are included but labeled, since they have had longer to collect likes.

Questions

What is an outlier post?

A post that got far more engagement than the account usually gets. Comparing a post with the creator's own median, instead of a raw like count, shows what worked for that audience.

Why the median and not the average?

One viral post can double an average. The median is the middle post, so it reflects a normal post for the account.

How many posts does it look at?

The latest feed page, about 12 posts. Through the API you can page further back.

Can I run this across many creators?

Yes. With the API, one page of recent posts costs 2 credits per account, and you can page back as far as you need.
